Senior Engineer

Location: Toowoomba

Position Status: Permanent/ Full Time

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

The key responsibilities of the position will include:

  1. Build client confidence and enhance business relationships with a view to securing productive, long-term relationships with clients.
  2. To identify opportunities, research and construct business proposals, liaising with internal and/or sub-contract staff as required.
  3. Effect good communications at all levels within the company with a particular emphasis on effective support for the staff in the design team.
  4. To conduct and project manage engineering projects including fieldwork, where required and design of earthworks, foundations, pipes, roads, storm water system and, catchment modelling.
  5. Prepare engineering specifications and reports.
  6. Conduct audits of engineering works, contracts and engineering QA documentation.
  7. Review and assess engineering works and certify as a RPEQ and/or NER.
  8. Conduct forensic assessments of failures in engineering works and provide recommendations for remedy.
  9. Maintain professional skills by keeping abreast of the literature, attendance at appropriate workshops, conferences or seminars and by liaison with fellow professional, technical and administrative staff.
  10. Administrative duties, as required.
  11. Compliance with the company's Quality Assurance systems.
  12. Work to required company HSE standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering.

  • Minimum of five (5) years commercial experience in a professional position within a consultancy.

  • Demonstrated high level project management experience.

  • Post graduate qualifications would be highly regarded.

  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and/or CPEng NER.

  • Current Class C driver's license.

  • White card and first aid certificates.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a team to deliver project outcomes on time and with quality results.

  • Engineering design experience.

  • Background in private industry and experience working in a professional consultancy.

  • Demonstrated advanced computing skills.

  • Passionate about rural Australia with a rural background or experience working in rural areas.

  • Comfortable with travel away from home. This includes day trips; short trips (2-4 days within a week) and occasional 1-2 week campaigns. Note that this role involves work in regional, rural and remote Australia.
